In case you're hearing Vanos rattles at a certain rpm, most usually 1800 - 2200 rpm, you're best off doing the Vanos rattle fix.
The Beisan rattle repair kit works simply by removing axial play from the Vanos piston bearing. This is best installed at the same time as Vanos seals, at least in higher mileage cars.
The kit will fit the following Vanos cars:
BMW E39 M5, S62 MY99+ engine
