Locking differentials


We have the largest stock and lineup of LSD differentials in Finland. The following will distinguish between the two main types of units available.

Clutch type differential

A clutch type differential is more suited for the track or rally, because it locks the wheels together allowing no difference in speed between them. Turning on parking places and driving in traffic is hard with a clutch type LSD, but it offers unrivalled durability and locking characteristics in rally or any track series. The ramp angles, also called 1, 1.5 or 2-way, determine when and how strongly a plate type differential will lock.

Difference between clutch and plate type differential? None, they are just different names for the same thing.

Clutch or plate type differentials we offer are Kaaz, Cusco, Tran-X and Gripper.

Torsen differentials

A torsen differential is a torque-sensing differential, which tries to keep the wheels spinning at the same speed. A torsen unit will however not completely lock the wheels, but instead transfers power from the faster spinning wheel to slower one. A torsen in very confortable on the street, and is also completely silent in operation. Torsen differentials also work flawlessy with different ESP systems.
